Cloud: …Aerith. This can’t be real!

Sephiroth: Do not worry. Soon the girl will become part of the Planet’s energy. All that is left is to go North. The ‘Promised Land’ waits for me over the snowy fields. There I will become a new being by uniting with the planet. As will this girl……

Cloud: …Shut up. The cycle of nature and your stupid plan don’t mean a thing. Aerith is gone. Aerith will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry…… or get angry…… What about us…… what are WE supposed to do? What about my pain? My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!

Sephiroth: What are you saying? Are you trying to tell me you have feelings too?

Cloud: Of course! Who do you think I am!?

Sephiroth: Ha, ha, ha…… Stop acting as if you were sad. There’s no need to act as though you’re angry either. Because, Cloud. You are…

Sephiroth disappears and left another Jenova behind. Cloud’s group fights Jenove-LIFE. After Cloud’s group defeated Jenova-LIFE…

Jenova: Because, you are…… a puppet.

My roommate and I had this great idea: “What if the two of us took on another pair in a team battle online?” It sure seemed like a great idea as we were a little tired of fighting only each other, and with the magic of the internets in this here 21st century it seemed eminently possible. The sad truth, unfortunately, is that it isn’t.

If we wanted to play each other and two other internet-people we would apparently need two Wiis to do it, one for each of us. This boggles my mind. Is there a good reason why two (or three) people in the same room can’t fill out the lineup with internet-people? I know there’s no technological reason for it so I’m just trying for figure out for what design reason they might have made this choice. Maybe they’re trying to encourage anti-social behavior for some nefarious purpose. I suppose if they make it harder to share with friends they might sell more games? Or maybe they were just being lazy. Either way, it’s really stupid that Nintendo wont allow it. But otherwise, it’s an incredibly addictive game.

I’ve heard of this
technology but didn’t realize it was so close to being mass marketed. I’m not entirely sure I see the value. It would be a little creepy to see someone sitting in front of a TV staring intently, and not moving, with this thing on their head wouldn’t it? Plus I don’t really mind hand controls. I suppose one advantage would be you would have free hand for snacking or whatever. Probably snacking.

They claim it can read your mood. I could see creative game developers using that ability to make the game respond to your emotions. Which could be cool/creepy. This thing has a lot of potential, but marketing-wise they’re going to need to get past the creepy factor.

I bet a lot of people will be afraid of this thing. I bet a lot of parents will refuse to buy this for their kids. Of course that’s all paranoia, since it uses passive sensors it’s actually safer than a cell phone. But still, totally creepy. Imagine what advertisers could do with a thing like this…shudder.
