The Obama Generation
November 6th, 2008. By AndrewWhen Bush “won” the election in 2000 it was so close and questionable, that when he started doing crazy shit we were extra critical of it. Not that he didn’t deserve extreme critisism, but it was even easier to hate him and be angry becuase of the 2000 election. Also the contrast with the prosperous ninites made it easy to hate him. On the other hand, the election of 2008 comes right after Bush’s reign and the psyoclogical mindfuck he put us all through, so Obama’s presidency will probably look great by comparison and maybe cement the popularity of liberal ideals for a generation. Yeah.

There are 57 Million of us who voted against Obama and the liberal policies he stands for. When his promised “tax cuts for the middle class” turn into tax increases by not extending the Bush tax cuts, there will be a backlash. I think it is great that we nominated the first African American, but his liberal policies are wrong for this country at this time (in my opinion). If he increases spending, and inevitably taxes, the economy will continue to spiral downward. Obama has surrounded himself with many culprits in the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac scandal, which was the tipping point in sending our economy into a tailspin. He then brings in the Governor Granholm of Michigan as an economic advisor? Have you looked at the state economy of Michigan lately? I hope she is advising on what NOT to do…..
I personally hope that Obama succeeds and lives up to his lofty rhetoric, but his record and his actions don’t leave me very optimistic, and his early cabinet picks are anything but uniting figures of change…..

I’m assuming you’re a republican, and all I can really say is that conservative policies are what brought us to the crappy situation we find ourselves in now, so maybe it’s time to try things a different approach. And there are a lot of Americans (52%) who seem to have given liberal polices the go ahead for the next 4 years. Let’s see what happens.

First, I am not a Republican, I am a conservative independent. Secondly, based on what you said, I don’t think you understand conservatism. Conservative policies did not bring us to where we are. True conservatives would not let spending run rampant like the current Republican administration and Democratic led Congress has. Conservatism is about smaller Government, less taxes, and less Government spending. Tell me how these principles have been applied as policy in the current administration?! Aside from taxes, they have not, so you cannot blame conservatism for the problems we are having. Blame politicians, misguided policies, and lack of fiscal restraint. That is why I was against Obama. I believe that Obama will not do anything to curb spending, decrease taxes, or decrease the size of Government. I think he will only make matters worse. Futhermore, unlike millions of star-struck Obama fans, I see him for who he really is…..a politician full of rhetoric with an ambition for power. He is no harbinger of change, and I think the troubles you see coming out of Chicago politics may well expose the type of things that go on behind the scenes amongst Obama and his political allies…
